Zach Nunnally
Midwife
Hey, I’m Zach, also known as the Bearded Midwife. I’m a Certified Professional Midwife and a proud graduate of Commonsense Childbirth School of Midwifery in Orlando, FL. I’ve been supporting families with heart and purpose ever since.
Midwifery isn’t just my career, it’s my calling.
I'm based in beautiful West Virginia, a place I love deeply and where I feel honored to serve growing families. I'm also a dad to three amazing kids, all born at home, and married to my incredible wife of 12 years.
I’m passionate about providing gentle, respectful care and helping shift the way our world sees birth. Every family deserves support, trust, and empowerment in the birthing process, and I’m here to be a part of that change.
Caroline Smith
Birth Assistant
Doula
Hi, I'm Caroline! I’m passionate about supporting families through one of the most powerful transitions in life. My own experiences with birth deeply shaped the way I show up for my clients—centered, calm, and committed to making sure every parent feels truly heard and respected.

Birth can be unpredictable, but I thrive under pressure. Whether things go according to plan or take unexpected turns, I’m there to provide steady, confident support every step of the way. My goal is always to elevate your voice and help you feel empowered, informed, and deeply supported throughout your birth and parenting journey.

Karissa Heidemann
Birth Assistant
Doula
Hi, I’m Karissa! I am a passionate birth doula, home birth mother of two, and proud member of the Gentle Care team. I believe that every birth story is unique and deserves to be honored with respect and support.
Having experienced the beauty and power of home birth myself, I’m committed to walking alongside families as they navigate their own journey into parenthood. This work is close to my heart, and I pour my passion and care into every birth I attend.

Kayla Stinnett
Birth Assistant
Hi, I'm Kayla! I'm always up for an adventure—whether it’s rafting down a river or hiking a new trail. I believe there’s a beautiful connection between the wildness of nature and the journey of birth—both are powerful and incredibly transformative.
I bring that same sense of wonder and respect into birth work, along with a lighthearted, down-to-earth personality. I love making people laugh, helping them feel comfortable, and showing up with calm, steady support when it matters most. Whether we’re sharing stories on a trail or in the birth space, I’m all about connection, trust, and enjoying the ride.

Lori Bray
Birth Assistant
Doula
Hi, I’m Lori! I'm a nurturer by nature, and I've always found deep fulfillment in caring for people of all ages. Over the years, I’ve found ways to balance meaningful work with the passions that bring me joy.

While raising my two children, my family and I lived on a five-acre exotic fruit tree farm, surrounded by animals, gardens, and the beautiful chaos of nature. When my children became adults, I felt a natural pull toward work that combined my strongest values: deep care for others, a passion for life, and a strong desire to advocate for those who need support. I extended my education and became a certified birth worker.
Today, I work as a birth doula, midwife assistant, and birth educator. My life revolves around being on call for families, supporting them—and the midwives, nurses, and OBs they work with—during one of the most powerful moments in life: birth. I’m passionate about birth work and committed to continually learning and growing so I can offer the best possible care to the families I serve.
